Devils Dyke (NW)

DEVIL'S DYKE  (NW)

Devil's Dyke is a good site in a NW wind but it is very popular with Hang Gliders when the wind is up to 20 mph. There is an agreement on the hill that Hang Gliders keep to one side and model fliers keep to the other side but that doesn't usually apply with the Hang Glider community.
The address is DYKE ROAD, POYNINGS, BRIGHTON, BN1 8YJ

Devils Dyke is to be found on the South Downs just North of the A27 as it passes above Brighton.
Parking is at the Dyke pub carpark and the slope is literally just North of the carpark. Model fliers should fly to the East of the triangulation point so as to adhere to local rules for flying.
The hill is brilliant for lift and there is a very large (but grassy) landing area behind the flight line.

We have flown the Dyke many times but there are at lot of other users of the site as it's popular with dog walkers and families in good weather.
